Lesson 2 of 3 · Instant Funded

How should you manage risk on an Instant Funded account?

Essential3 min readMyFundedCapital Research · rules as of 17 Oct 2026

Short answer

Risk small enough that a normal losing streak cannot reach the 6% trailing floor, and set a personal daily stop well inside 3%. Your first milestone is +6% closed profit, where the floor locks at your starting balance.

01

At 0.5% risk, 6 losses fill the daily room and 12 the max-loss room.

02

The trailing floor locks at your starting balance once your best close reaches +6%.

03

Until the lock, open profit gives you no extra room; only closed balance moves the floor.

Why the limits call for smaller size

On $10,000 you have $300 of daily room and $600 of max-loss room, against $500 and $1,000 on a 1-Step account of the same size. The same trade size uses up a larger share of your limits. Count it in losing trades:

Risk per tradeLosses to the daily floorLosses to the max-loss floor

1%36

Losing streaks are normal. Pick the row that leaves room for one longer than you expect. If you do not know how long your usual losing streaks are, look at your last fifty trades before you choose; that number is the honest input for this table.

How the trailing floor moves

The floor sits $600 below your highest closed balance on a $10,000 account, and never rises above the starting balance.

Close a trade for +$200$10,200$10,200 − $600

Best close reaches $10,600$10,600$10,000, locked

Until the lock, every closed win raises the floor by the same amount. Your room stays $600; it is just measured from higher up.

A plan for the first weeks

  1. Risk 0.25–0.5% per trade, measured from your starting balance.
  2. Set a personal daily stop at half the daily limit: about $150 on $10,000.
  3. Stop for the day after two losses in a row.
  4. Size each order from the stop. In the MyFundedCapital Terminal, Fit to limits sizes it to the daily room you have left.
  5. Treat the lock at $10,600 as your first goal, and do not raise risk before it.

After the lock, profit above the starting balance becomes real cushion. The daily floor still applies every day.

Leverage is not a risk budget

Leverage decides how much margin a position needs: 1:30 on forex, down to 1:2 on crypto. It does not decide what you lose when the stop is hit. Size from the stop instead: $50 of risk with a 25-pip stop on EURUSD at about $10 per pip per lot is $50 ÷ (25 × $10) = 0.20 lots. For gold and crypto, check the value per point in the order ticket before you size.

Lower leverage on crypto means a position needs more margin, so you may hit a margin limit before you hit your risk limit. That is a sign to trade smaller, not to move the stop closer than the trade needs.

Habits that protect the account

  • Reduce or close a losing trade before the 17:00 New York time reset rather than carry it into a smaller new day.
  • Do not hold over a weekend without the Weekend Holding add-on.
  • Stay out of new FX and metal trades inside the news window.
  • No martingale, grid or all-in trades: they are prohibited and they break tight limits fast.
  • Check both floors before every order. The tighter one is the one that counts.

Questions

Should I risk more after the floor locks?

The lock gives you more room, not a reason to double size. Profit above the starting balance is cushion, but the daily floor still resets every day from yesterday’s close.

Can I use an expert advisor on Instant Funded?

Only by agreement: write to support before you run an expert advisor, and wait for the answer. Copy trading is allowed, between your own accounts and from other traders or signal services, as long as the trades follow the trading rules: no martingale, no opposite trades across accounts or firms, no all-in bets. Martingale, grid, high-frequency trading and hedging between accounts are not, and every order must stay above both floors.
