Phase 1: 8%. Phase 2: 5%. Each needs 3 profitable days.
Daily floor: 5% below yesterday’s closed balance, checked on equity.
Max-loss floor: 10% below the starting balance. It never moves.
The rules at a glance
The 2-Step Challenge has two evaluation phases and then a funded account. The loss floors are the same at every stage; the targets and the profitable-days rule apply only during evaluation.
| Rule | Phase 1 | Phase 2 | Funded |
|---|---|---|---|
| Profit target | 8% | 5% | None |
| Profitable days | 3 | 3 | – |
| Daily loss | 5% | 5% | 5% |
| Max loss (static) | 10% | 10% | 10% |
| Consistency | – | – | 35% |
| Time limit | None | None | None |
On a $10,000 account, phase 1 needs +$800, phase 2 needs +$500, and the max-loss floor sits at $9,000. Forex leverage is 1:100.
The daily floor
Daily floor = yesterday’s closed balance × (1 − 5%). On the first day of a $10,000 account it is $9,500. If you close a day at $10,200, the next floor is $9,690.
The test runs on equity, so open losses, commissions and swaps count as soon as they happen. Open profit does not raise the reference until you close the trade. The day resets at 17:00 New York time.
The static max-loss floor
The max-loss floor is 10% below the starting balance and it never moves. On $10,000 it stays at $9,000 whether your balance is $9,800 or $10,600. Every dollar of profit adds to the distance between you and the floor.
The daily floor is recalculated each day, so on a bad day it can be the one you hit first. Check both before each order.
A static floor rewards a good start. Make $50 on each of your first few days and every dollar of it sits between you and the max-loss floor for the rest of the account. That is the main practical difference from the 1-Step, where the floor follows your best close.
| Balance | Max-loss floor | Daily floor if this was yesterday’s close |
|---|---|---|
| $9,800 | $9,000 | $9,310 |
| $10,000 | $9,000 | $9,500 |
| $10,600 | $9,000 | $10,070 |
Profitable days in short
Each phase needs 3 profitable days. A day qualifies when it gains at least 0.5% of the phase’s initial balance: $50 on a $10,000 account. The rule uses the lower of your end-of-day balance or equity, so an open loss can cancel a green day. The next lesson covers it in detail.
Treat the day count as part of your pace. A phase is finished only when the target and the day count are both met, so plan for at least 3 solid days per phase rather than one large one.
News, weekends and other rules
- News: no new FX or metal positions from 2 minutes before to 2 minutes after high-impact news. Closing is always allowed. The Allow News Trading add-on lifts the rule.
- Weekends: holding over the weekend needs the Weekend Holding add-on.
- Activity: place a trade at least every 30 days; inactivity is a hard breach.
- Style: expert advisors only by agreement, so write to support first; copy trading is allowed, between your own accounts and from other traders or signal services, as long as the trades follow the trading rules: no martingale, no opposite trades across accounts or firms, no all-in bets. Scalping, high-frequency trading and hedging are not.
After phase 2, the account is reviewed and you complete verification and the trader agreement in the MyFundedCapital Dashboard before the funded account is issued.

1. What are the 2-Step Challenge rules?
- Phase 1: 8%. Phase 2: 5%. Each needs 3 profitable days.
- Daily floor: 5% below yesterday’s closed balance, checked on equity.
- Max-loss floor: 10% below the starting balance. It never moves.
2. What counts as a profitable day in the 2-Step Challenge?
- A day counts only if it gains at least 0.5% of the phase’s initial balance.
- The rule uses the lower of end-of-day balance or equity, so open losses can cancel a day.
- You need 3 qualifying days in phase 1 and another 3 in phase 2.
3. How do you pass phase 2 of the 2-Step Challenge?
- Phase 2 target: 5%, plus 3 profitable days. No time limit.
- The floors stay the same while the target shrinks, so lower risk per trade still gets you there.
- At 0.5% risk, 20 losses in a row would reach the max-loss floor from the start.
4. How does the 2-Step Scaling Plan work?
- Review every 120 days: 10% net closed profit and 2 paid payouts.
- Each step adds 25% of the original size, up to $500,000.
- Your split does not change as you scale, and ordinary payouts never wait for scaling.
