Lesson 2 of 4 · 1-Step Challenge

How do you pass the 1-Step Challenge?

Essential3 min readMyFundedCapital Research · rules as of 17 Oct 2026

Short answer

Size each trade so a losing streak cannot reach either floor, aim for a steady pace instead of one big day, and stop for the day well before the daily limit. There is no time limit, so a slower pace costs you days, not the account.

01

At an average 0.5% a day, the 10% target takes about 20 trading days.

02

At 0.5% risk per trade, it takes 20 losses in a row to cover the max-loss room.

03

No time limit: a slower pace costs you days, not the account.

Start from the floors, not the target

The target tells you where to go. The floors tell you how fast you may drive. On a $10,000 account you have $500 of daily room and $1,000 of max-loss room. Turn those into a count of losing trades.

At 0.5% risk per trade ($50), 10 losses in a row fill the daily room and 20 fill the max-loss room. At 1% the numbers fall to 5 and 10. Losing streaks of that length happen to good strategies, so smaller risk buys you time to be right.

Size every order from the stop: $50 of risk with a 25-pip stop on EURUSD at about $10 per pip per lot is $50 ÷ (25 × $10) = 0.20 lots. In the MyFundedCapital Terminal, Fit to limits sizes the order to the daily loss room you have left.

Set a daily pace

A pace is an average, not a quota. At 0.5% a day the 10% target takes about 20 trading days. At 1% a day it takes about 10. Many days will be flat or red; the pace only tells you whether your plan is realistic.

If your plan needs a much faster pace than your strategy usually gives, the plan is the problem. Lower the pace, keep the risk, and accept more days.

Your personal daily stop

Do not let the rule be your stop. Set your own line inside it. A simple choice is half the daily limit: about $250 on a $10,000 account. It leaves room for slippage, a gap or a trade you could not close in time.

  • Stop for the day at your personal line.
  • Stop after two or three losses in a row, even if the line is not reached.
  • Check the daily floor before every new order, not only after a loss.

The trailing floor changes the maths

On the 1-Step the max-loss floor follows your best closed balance. After a good week, the room above the floor is still $1,000, just measured from a higher point. Profit does not buy you extra room until the floor locks at your starting balance.

So do not raise risk after a winning run. Keep risk fixed in dollars, based on your starting balance, until the floor has locked.

The last stretch

Close to the target, the temptation is to force one more trade or to size up. Keep the same risk and the same setups. If you reach the target before you have 3 trading days, you still need the remaining days; keep those trades small. Watch the news window and do not hold over a weekend unless you bought the Weekend Holding add-on.

Plan the finish before you are near it. Decide now how you handle the last part of the target: same risk, same setups, no new instruments. A clear rule written in advance is easier to follow than a decision made while the target is one trade away.

Questions

What is a realistic daily pace for the 1-Step?

There is no required daily target. A pace of 0.25–0.5% a day keeps risk small; at 0.5% the target takes about 20 trading days. Your results depend on your strategy and the market.

Can I use an expert advisor on the 1-Step Challenge?

Only by agreement: write to support before you run an expert advisor, and wait for the answer. Copy trading is allowed, between your own accounts and from other traders or signal services, as long as the trades follow the trading rules: no martingale, no opposite trades across accounts or firms, no all-in bets. Scalping, high-frequency trading and hedging are not, and every order the EA places must respect the same floors.
